Fermeture du restaurant universitaire de KOLDA: Les étudiant s'opposent à la mesure par des actions musclées
Students vandalized the university restaurant at dinnertime on Tuesday, December 23rd. They were protesting the closure of the cafeteria by the CROUZ/Kolda administration. Dishes, tables, and chairs were overturned by the angry students. They are demanding that the restaurant remain open so that some of their classmates who stayed behind can eat there during the Christmas break. "Many students come from other regions of the country and are preparing for exams. Therefore, they decided to spend the holidays here in Kolda, hoping to eat at the university," explained one student, regarding the reason for refusing the restaurant's closure.
The General Directorate of CROUZ has issued a note announcing the closure of university restaurants in Ziguinchor and Kolda starting with dinner this Tuesday, December 24th.
Its reopening is scheduled for Sunday, January 4, 2026, at dinnertime. This is a memo that the students of Kolda are rejecting. The director of the Kolda branch called the police to the site to assess the damage caused by the students.
