Touba : L'Académie nationale des sciences et techniques du Sénégal visite le complexe Cheikh Ahmadoul Khadim
A delegation of senior officials from the National Academy of Sciences and Techniques of Senegal today visited the Cheikh Ahmadoul Khadim Complex (CCAK) in Touba, under the chairmanship of Serigne Cheikh Ahmadou Mbacké Badawi.
The initiative came from the Academy itself, eager to learn about this innovative educational model that extends from the Quranic institute to the university. The delegation was received by the president of the complex, the rector, the vice-rectors, the heads of the faculties, and the department heads. Discussions focused on the status and operational structure of the university, as well as the prospects for a partnership between the two institutions.
Several avenues for short-term cooperation have been identified. The first involves setting up a disease observatory, as two members of the Academy's science section already have extensive experience in this field.
Furthermore, the Academy's vice-president proposed inviting the president of the complex to a public conference to discuss a topic at the intersection of science and religion with the academics. Finally, the Academy plans to visit the Caliph General of the Mourides to explain its advisory role to the Senegalese authorities.
Speaking after the meeting, Professor Lamine Guèye, Rector of Cheikh Ahmadoul Khadim University of Touba, praised the quality of the discussions: “This is an innovative model, so it is important for the Academy to discover this model, which starts from the ground up, from the Quranic institute to the university. Prospects are emerging in the short term, particularly in the area of research. Similarly, the Academy plans to visit the General Caliph of the Mourides to explain to him what the Academy is, how it operates, and the advisory role it plays for all authorities in Senegal.”
