Scandale Knysna sur Netflix : Raymond Domenech explose et dénonce un « viol de son âme » !
Sixteen years after the Knysna events that marked his career as head coach of the French national team during the World Cup in South Africa, Raymond Domenech has broken his silence, but not in an effort to conciliate the situation. In a statement of rare virulence, the former coach strongly condemns the release of a Netflix documentary revisiting this historic fiasco. He calls the work an "extraordinarily violent indictment" and a film of "nauseating bias." Claiming to be deeply wounded, he goes so far as to compare the documentary to a "rape of his soul" and a theft of his emotions.
A betrayal of trust and ethics
Raymond Domenech's anger stems from what he describes as a betrayal by the streaming giant's production team. According to him, his participation was contingent on having a say in the final cut, a promise he claims was broken. He accuses the filmmakers of abandoning rigor and investigative journalism in favor of sensationalism. "What was intended as therapy has become a hateful cesspool," he fumes, lamenting an edit that he believes is solely designed to boost ratings by discrediting him.
The former coach discusses, in particular, the use of his personal notes in the film. He explains that these written thoughts, taken from a diary kept under "unreasonable and intensely powerful" pressure during the 2010 World Cup, were not intended to be released to the public in their original form. For him, using these moments of tension, sometimes brutal towards others or himself, demonstrates a complete lack of journalistic ethics.
While distancing himself from this project, which he considers vulgar, Raymond Domenech is keen to reaffirm his values: while acknowledging his provocative and rebellious nature, he rejects the labels of malice or arrogance that the film would attach to him. In conclusion, he wanted to thank his everyday supporters, those who show him friendship in the street. It's a way of closing this painful chapter by turning to those who, in his view, see the man beyond the media image shaped by controversy.
