Aminata Touré : « La médiation ne doit pas couvrir l’impunité »
Aminata Touré, High Representative of the President of the Republic, announced on her Facebook page that she took part this Sunday morning in the opening of the 4th annual retreat of High Representatives and Envoys of the Economic Commissions organized by the intergovernmental organization International IDEA, in Dakar.
In her speech, Ms. Touré recalled the importance of mediation as a tool for conflict resolution in Africa, while insisting on the need to conduct it with strict respect for human rights.
"Mediation can serve to resolve the many conflicts that significantly delay the development of our continent by facilitating dialogue and the search for solutions. But it must not contribute to impunity," she said.
The former Prime Minister also stressed that mediation cannot replace the legal actions that are essential to punish those responsible for human rights violations.
