Amadou Ba Pastef
Ayib Daffé, chairman of the Pastef-Les Patriotes parliamentary group, sought to dispel confusion surrounding the proposed interpretative bill for the amnesty law, sponsored by National Assembly Vice-President Amadou Ba. During a press conference on March 20, 2025, he insisted: "This is neither a total or partial repeal, nor a settling of scores, but a clarification for those who, in good faith, misinterpret the law."
This initiative, submitted by Amadou Ba on behalf of the majority group in the Assembly, fully commits Pastef deputies. "We are witnessing manipulation that must be stopped. This is the whole point of this statement," insisted Ayib Daffé, reaffirming the party's commitment to serving the people. He also announced the start of committee work tomorrow, specifying that, although not broadcast, the opinion of this body will weigh heavily in the convening of a plenary session.
The group's president took the opportunity to respond to the criticism often leveled at parliamentarians, who are accused of limiting themselves to passing laws without monitoring the government or evaluating public policies. "As representatives of the people, we are determined to fully fulfill our mission," he assured, presenting this proposal as proof of their commitment.
