Coalition Diomaye Président : « Je n'ai pas trahi », clame Bougar Diouf après son éviction
The president of the Union of Senegalese Pan-Africanists (UPS), Bougar Diouf, vigorously contests his exclusion from the Diomaye President Coalition, announced by the president of said coalition, Aminata Touré.
In a message posted on his Facebook page, he described the decision as "illegal" and "unjustified," arguing that it violates democratic principles and the laws governing political activity in Senegal. "I was not informed of this decision and I have not had the opportunity to defend myself. This is an arbitrary and unjust measure, which shows that the coalition does not respect the principles of democracy and freedom of expression," he asserted.
Bougar Diouf emphasized that his party, the UPS, is an autonomous and independent entity, and that the coalition cannot make unilateral decisions regarding its status. "I have not betrayed the Diomaye President coalition; I simply expressed my opinion on an international issue. I am ready for dialogue to find a solution, but I will not be intimidated," the UPS leader stated.
While reaffirming his commitment to the Diomaye President coalition project, Bougar Diouf refuses to comply with what he considers an unjust imposition. He also announced an upcoming press conference to inform national and international public opinion about what he calls an "illegal decision."
As a reminder, the Diomaye President coalition had announced that Bougar Diouf had "self-excluded" himself for having publicly supported the candidacy of former President Macky Sall for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations.
