Communiqué des députés non-inscrits : Thierno Alassane Sall aussi apporte ses précisions
On Monday, in a press release, a group of independent members of parliament announced that they would not be filing an appeal against the Pastef party's proposed law amending Articles L29 and L30 of the electoral code. This proposal was adopted on April 28th. Thierno Alassane Sall, one of the signatories of the press release, offered some clarification.
"I was questioned about the reason for this decision. I want to clarify for the public that since the law was passed, we have been actively working to bring this adopted law before the Constitutional Council. The appeal itself is already written and finalized, but we are missing some signatures," the MP stated.
The communiqué being signed by 13 deputies, the leader of the Republic of Values indicates that they are therefore missing 4 deputies to reach the number of 17 deputies required to refer the matter to the Constitutional Council.
"We are still within the deadlines, I invite my fellow members of parliament to join this initiative. We share the same conviction: no opportunity should be missed to prevent the introduction of an unconstitutional law into our legal system," he stated.
