Bargny : Un réseau de migration irrégulière démantelé, 30 candidats interceptés par la police

Police officers from the Bargny police station have put an end to an illegal immigration operation to Spain, arresting 30 people, including 16 women and three young children. An investigation is underway to identify the organizers.

A major operation led by the Bargny police station under the direction of Lieutenant Babacar Ly has thwarted a planned illegal crossing to the Spanish coast. The operation resulted in the arrest of thirty people, mostly West African nationals.

It was thanks to an anonymous tip that the police were able to thwart this attempt to leave for Europe. The source, considered reliable by investigators, had warned of an imminent boarding from the beaches of Bargny, specifically in the Miname district.

The informant also specified that the future travelers were hidden in a disused dwelling, located directly on the coast, while waiting for the signal to leave.

Effective night intervention

Acting discreetly, the bloodhounds established a surveillance perimeter before taking action around 2:30 a.m. The raid on the makeshift shelter allowed the entire group present at the scene to be apprehended.

The operation resulted in thirty arrests, with a strong female representation, as sixteen women were among those arrested. The situation is becoming particularly worrying with the presence of three minors aged 2, 5, and 7, respectively, according to Seneweb sources.

A network with West African ramifications

Analysis of the profiles of those wishing to travel reveals the sub-regional dimension of this traffic.

Guinea dominates by a wide margin with 24 nationals (equally divided between men and women), followed by Ivory Coast with 4 people (1 man and 3 women) and Mali with 2 migrants (1 man and 1 woman).

The interviews revealed the existence of a well-oiled financial system. The candidates interviewed admitted to having paid between 250,000 and 400,000 CFA francs to a certain AT Ba, a Guinean national living in Pikine, who acted as the main recruiter.

A larger network than expected

The revelations of those arrested reveal the true extent of the organization. Several candidates reportedly managed to escape during the police intervention, while other groups dispersed to other sites, notably Bata beach in Rufisque.

The thirty people arrested remain at the disposal of investigators, who are continuing their interviews. The priority objective remains the identification and arrest of the true organizers of this network, starting with the recruiter AT Ba.
