On May 10, 2026, at approximately 8:00 PM, the Medina district police station, under the command of Commissioner Lat Dior Sall, received information that an individual had just been stabbed in Colobane, opposite the John F. Kennedy High School. Officers from the Criminal Investigation Brigade immediately went to the scene, but the victim had already been transported by firefighters to the Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba District Health Center in Medina, located near the Douta Seck Cultural Center.
She is identified as C.Diop, a 22-year-old shoe salesman residing in Colobane.
The on-site investigation quickly focused suspicion on a man named "Laye," recently arrested at the police station for public intoxication. Investigators learned that both the victim and the suspect were users of cellulose acid and known to the police. Continuing their search, the officers of the Criminal Investigation Brigade eventually apprehended the suspect, formally identified as A. Dieng, 18 years old, born in Touba, a shoe salesman residing in Colobane, in the area known as "Roukou Feudiay."
The victim was transferred to the Fann University Hospital, where she died.
Meanwhile, the victim was transferred from the Medina Health District to the Fann University Hospital Center for an X-ray and further treatment. But on May 11, 2026, around 5:00 p.m., C. Diop's brother contacted the department to report his brother's death from his injuries.
A motive based on revenge
After being briefly questioned, A. Dieng admitted to the crime. He stated that he was used to being beaten by C. Diop and had decided to take revenge by stabbing him with a knife. The suspect was taken into custody for voluntary homicide. The public prosecutor has been informed and the investigation is ongoing.
