Grand-Yoff : Six personnes arrêtées pour usage collectif et détention de chanvre indien
The Grand-Yoff district police station's research brigade conducted a targeted operation on Monday, November 10, 2025, which led to the dismantling of a network of Indian hemp consumers.
It all started around 2:30 p.m., when investigators, using various sources of information, decided to intervene simultaneously between Scat Urbam and Arafat.
In the Scat Urbam district, police arrested five identified individuals: D. Kampal, born in 2004, farmer; TY Diop, 24 years old, student; MM Diouf, born in 1996, driver; A. Diouf, born in 1997, worker; PA Moireau, born in 1996, worker.
According to investigators, officers raided the terrace of a house after analyzing a tip deemed promising. There, the group was caught consuming marijuana. A search of the premises led to the discovery, in the possession of D. Kampal, of seventeen (17) packets of marijuana and 11,000 FCFA.
When questioned, D. Kampal admitted to owning the drugs, stating that his friends smoked with him.
Following this, police continued their operations in Arafat, where a sixth person was arrested. This was A. Mendy, born in 1972 in Dakar, a bricklayer by trade. He was found in possession of a 125-gram package of marijuana. During questioning, he claimed to have acquired the drugs from someone he met by chance.
At the end of the operation, all those involved were taken into custody. They are being prosecuted for offering or transferring and collectively using cannabis, depending on the circumstances of their arrest.
The investigation is continuing under the supervision of the head of service at the Grand-Yoff district police station.
