Mbour: La BR de Saly saisit 23 téléphones suspects et interpelle deux receleurs présumés
The Saly research brigade, under the jurisdiction of the Mbour gendarmerie company, dismantled a mobile phone trafficking network. Two individuals were arrested and brought before the Mbour High Court, according to sources close to the prosecutor's office.
It all began with the theft of a Redmi A5 mobile phone belonging to a certain S. Diaw. His complaint triggered a technological manhunt. Thanks to the analysis of technical data and the support of telephone services, investigators located the phone at the home of Mr. Samb, alias "Niass," a mobile phone vendor at the market.
When confronted by the police, Mr. Samb was unable to justify the origin of the stolen Redmi A5, as well as twenty-two other smartphones found in his possession.
Placed in police custody, he chose to cooperate and gave up a name: that of MT Guèye, who allegedly sold him nine of the seized devices.
The police rushed to the market where MT Guèye was reported to be. He was arrested on the spot and spontaneously confirmed the statements of his alleged accomplice. Unable to prove the legal origin of the phones himself, he was also taken into custody.
At the end of the investigation, the two men were brought before the High Court of Mbour.
In total, twenty-three mobile phones of different brands and dubious origin were seized, indicating a likely well-established trafficking operation.
