« Taxaw Saytu »: le fass de Y'en a marre où s’expose 2 ans de fractures sociales

At Place de la Nation in Dakar, the "Taxaw Saytu nãari atti nguur gi" gathering dedicated April 24, 2026, to a critical assessment of the first two years of the current regime. The initiative, led by the Y'en a marre movement, brought together citizen groups, associations, and political leaders to discuss the main social concerns expressed on the ground.

The Vice-Coordinator of Y'en a marre opened the discussions by reiterating the purpose of the initiative: to compare political commitments with the realities experienced by the population. He emphasized the need to strengthen accountability mechanisms in a context marked by strong social expectations.

Citizen groups then took the floor to express their concerns. The Assembly of Laid-Off Workers particularly stood out during the discussions with a structured and data-driven presentation. Its representative, Binta Sène, indicated that the group represents more than 30,000 laid-off workers (30,633 according to their figures) from public and semi-public organizations, including former employees of CDC Habitat, a subsidiary of the Caisse de dépôt et consignation (a French public sector financial institution).

She denounced what she described as irregular situations in several government departments, citing the simultaneous dismissal of permanent employees and cases involving women on maternity leave. According to her, these practices raise questions about compliance with the procedures stipulated by the Labor Code and call for a comprehensive review of the cases.

Beyond the figures put forward, the interventions highlighted a shared feeling of fragility in the management of employment and workers' rights, with insistent calls for the opening of a framework for direct dialogue with the authorities.

The intervention of MP Thierno Alassane Sall provided an institutional perspective. The elected official welcomed the initiative while reiterating that these concerns fall under the purview of parliamentary oversight mechanisms for government action. He emphasized the need to address issues related to employment, layoffs, and social justice more effectively within the relevant institutions.

As the discussions progressed, a shared understanding emerged: that the current situation remains largely questioned by citizens, in the face of persistently high social expectations. The discussions thus highlighted a gap between the concerns expressed on the ground and the expected institutional responses.

This day of "Taxaw Saytu nãari atti nguur gi" thus stands out as a moment of questioning the power in place, where the record of the two years of governance was directly confronted with the social realities brought by the citizens.
