UIDT-Thiès : Cessation totale des activités pédagogiques, 48 heures de journée sans ticket

The Conference of Student Associations (CAE), the only structure defending the interests of students at the Iba Der Thiam University of Thiès (UIDT), informs the public and the competent authorities of the growing concern of students regarding the non-receipt of payment statements relating to the back payment of scholarships for the months of October and November.

“To date, many public universities in Senegal have already received their payment statements, allowing their students to clearly understand their situation. However, I'UIDT-T remains one of the few institutions that has not yet received any official document in this regard, plunging its students into total uncertainty and creating a climate of frustration and incomprehension,” stressed the president of the CAE, Ben Momar Diouf.

According to him, this situation, which has persisted for several days, directly affects the peace and stability of the student community. The lack of official information prevents students from fully exercising their rights and jeopardizes the planning of their academic and social activities.

Faced with this lack of diligence, the students of the University of Thiès have decreed a total cessation of educational activities, today, from 10 a.m. and 48 hours of day without ticket (JST) from this Thursday, November 27, 2025.

They hope that these actions will push the authorities to finally take steps to address this situation.

Furthermore, the CAE reminds the authorities that the issue of the 1,000-bed dormitories remains a major concern for all students of UIDT-T. "For several years, we have been demanding the complete completion and final delivery of these dormitories, the commissioning of which is an absolute emergency in the face of the accommodation crisis that is plaguing our university," the students lament, warning that no unfulfilled promise will be accepted by the conference.

Ben Momar Diouf reiterates that student safety remains an absolute priority, hence the urgency of accelerating procedures.

Furthermore, the CAE draws the authorities' attention to the unjustified non-participation of the UFR Health department at UIDT in the national pharmacy internship competition. According to Ben Momar Diouf, despite the timely submission of applications, pharmacy students' applications were rejected without valid reason due to administrative delays, thus depriving our fellow students of a fundamental academic right.

The conference reaffirms its commitment and availability to all students. It intends to continue its efforts to improve their well-being and learning conditions.
