Match amical : l’Argentine et Lionel Messi corrigent la Zambie
As reigning world champions, Argentina are actively preparing for the 2026 World Cup. Three days after narrowly beating Mauritania (2-1), the Albiceleste reassured themselves on Tuesday night by thrashing Zambia (5-0).
Led by their captain and technical leader Lionel Messi, Argentina opened the scoring in the 4th minute thanks to Julián Álvarez, well served by Thiago Almada.
Two minutes before the break, Lionel Messi doubled the score with a beautiful team move (43rd).
In the second half, Argentina were awarded a penalty after a foul on Thiago Almada. Lionel Messi let Nicolás Otamendi take the penalty, and he made it 3-0 (50th minute).
Dominating in all aspects of the game, Argentina then extended their lead with an own goal by Chanda (68th minute). Valentín Barco, who came on as a substitute in the second half, capped off the world champions' attacking display by scoring the fifth goal in stoppage time (90+4).
With this resounding victory, Argentina boosts its confidence two months before the World Cup.
