Weekend for Senegalese players abroad: Ismaïla Sarr scores, Bamba Dieng smiles again, Pathé Ciss sees red

Week-end des Sénégalais de l’étranger : Ismaïla Sarr buteur, Bamba Dieng retrouve le sourire, Pathé Ciss voit rouge

Senegalese footballers playing abroad had a generally quiet weekend. However, Bamba Dieng stood out by finding the back of the net for FC Lorient, while Ismaïla Sarr made a decisive contribution in England. In Spain, Pathé Ciss had a difficult evening, receiving a red card against Real Madrid.

France

For the 20th day of Ligue 1, AS Monaco, with Lamine Camara in the starting lineup but without Krépin Diatta, largely dominated Stade Rennais with Habib Beye (4-0).

At Groupama Stadium, Olympique Lyonnais, captained by Moussa Niakhaté, defeated Lille 1-0. Second-placed RC Lens, with Abdallah Sima coming on in stoppage time (90+5), beat Le Havre 1-0. Le Havre's starting lineup included Arouna Sanganté, Rassoul Ndiaye, and Issa Soumaré. At Stade Jean-Bouin, Paris FC, featuring Moustapha Mbow, held Olympique de Marseille to a 2-2 draw. The Senegalese defender conceded a penalty for Marseille's opening goal. In the Breton derby, FC Lorient edged out FC Nantes thanks to a goal from Bamba Dieng (32nd minute). OGC Nice, with Antoine Mendy and Yehvann Diouf on the bench, were held to a 2-2 draw by Stade Brestois. On the road in Angers, FC Metz, with Habib Diallo but without Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly, lost 1-0. In the day's marquee match, RC Strasbourg, captained by Mamadou Sarr, lost at home to Paris Saint-Germain 2-1. The young Senegalese defender, who is due to return to Chelsea, made a mistake that led to PSG's opening goal. Ibrahim Mbaye, who started the match, only played the first half before being substituted at halftime (46th minute).

England

In the 24th round of Premier League fixtures, Everton, with Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye in the starting lineup, earned a point away at Brighton (1-1). In the London derby, Chelsea overturned El Hadji Malick Diouf's West Ham (3-2). Crystal Palace, with Ismaïla Sarr in the lineup, secured a valuable draw (1-1) away to Nottingham Forest. The speedy Senegalese striker scored the Eagles' goal from the penalty spot. Pape Matar Sarr, who came on as a substitute in the second half, contributed to Tottenham's hard-fought draw at Manchester City (2-2). Habib Diarra's Sunderland host Burnley this Monday.

Spain

In the 22nd round of La Liga, Rayo Vallecano, featuring Pathé Ciss and Nobel Mendy, lost to Real Madrid (2-1). Pathé Ciss was sent off for a dangerous tackle (80th minute), while Nobel Mendy conceded a decisive penalty which he converted in stoppage time (90+10).

Villeréal, with Pape Guèye in the starting lineup, snatched a draw on Oviedo's pitch (2-2).

Italy

In the 23rd round of Serie A, Lazio, with Boulaye Dia in their ranks, defeated Genoa 3-2. The Senegalese striker watched the match from the bench.

Hellas Verona, with Cheikh Tidiane Niasse coming on in the 62nd minute, suffered a heavy defeat at Cagliari (4-0). Cremonese, with Mikayil Ngor Faye entering the game in the 67th minute, lost at home to Inter Milan (0-2). Still injured, Assane Diao did not participate in Como's draw against Atalanta (0-0). Abdoulaye Niakhaté Ndiaye, still unavailable, did not feature in Parma's heavy defeat against Juventus (4-1).

Germany

In the 20th round of Bundesliga matches, Nicolas Jackson's Bayern Munich were held to a 2-2 draw by Hamburg. The Senegalese striker remained on the bench.

Türkiye

In the Super Lig (matchday 20), Ismaïl Jakobs' Galatasaray crushed Kayserispor 4-0. The Senegalese defender did not play. Chérif Ndiaye's Samsunspor secured a 1-0 victory away at Kasimpasa. The Senegalese striker, who started the match, was substituted in the 74th minute.

Belgium

For the 23rd matchday, Anderlecht, without Moussa Ndiaye but with Ilay Camara coming on in the 41st minute, lost to Standard Liège (2-0).

In the weekend's big match, Union Saint-Gilloise, with Ousseynou Niang coming on in added time (90th minute), were also in contention.

Saudi Arabia

In Matchday 19, Al Hilal, without Kalidou Koulibaly due to a bereavement, were held to a 2-2 draw by Al Qadsiah. Al Nassr, with Sadio Mané in the lineup, secured a 3-0 victory away at Al Kholood. Al Ahly, captained by Édouard Mendy, comfortably defeated Al Ettifaq 4-0.
