LUTTE CONTRE LA CRIMINALITÉ MARITIME : La Marine nationale renforce son arsenal
On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, the Senegalese National Navy received two latest generation fast boats, accompanied by their related equipment, as well as specialized equipment for combating maritime crime and collecting evidence at sea.
This donation, offered by the European Union as part of the West Africa Integrated Maritime Security Support Project (SWAIMS), aims to strengthen the operational capabilities of the sub-region's maritime forces in the face of growing threats.
The official handover ceremony, presided over by the Chief of Staff of the Navy (CEMMARINE), took place in the presence of the Ambassador of Portugal to Senegal as well as several European diplomatic authorities.
This initiative illustrates the European Union's ongoing commitment to securing territorial waters and strengthening regional cooperation, particularly in the strategic Gulf of Guinea area, which is plagued by piracy and illicit trafficking.
