GITEX Africa : Wave a mis en lumière l’innovation sénégalaise et a accompagné des startups locales sur la scène internationale

Dakar, Marrakech, April 13, 2026 – At GITEX Africa 2026, one of the continent's largest technology events, Wave Digital Finance reaffirmed its commitment to African innovation by supporting several high-potential Senegalese startups. Through this initiative, the company helped give local talent international visibility and strengthen Senegal's position as a technology hub in Africa.

Since its launch in 2018, Wave has established itself as a major player in financial inclusion by offering simple, accessible, and affordable mobile services. Now present in 10 African countries, the company has profoundly transformed access to financial services through a transparent model, including a fixed 1% transfer fee, enabling millions of users to conduct secure transactions at a lower cost.

In a context where the African digital economy was experiencing unprecedented acceleration, Wave Digital Finance established itself as a key player by building a financial infrastructure designed to meet the realities of the continent: simple, accessible and adapted to everyday uses.

GITEX Africa provided a unique platform for networking, exchange, and opportunities for African tech players. For Wave, this event was a chance to strengthen its ties with pan-African and international ecosystems, while showcasing solutions designed in Africa, for Africa.

Throughout the event, Wave's booth established itself as a true meeting point for the Senegalese and African ecosystem. A genuine space for exchange and demonstration, it welcomed visitors, partners, financial institutions including several Senegalese banks, as well as institutional representatives, notably the Senegalese embassy in Morocco, entrepreneurs, and numerous Senegalese students.

As part of GITEX Africa, Wave also participated in high-level discussions on the future of digital financial infrastructure, particularly regarding digital identity, financial inclusion, and the interoperability of payment systems. These discussions positioned the company at the heart of the conversation on building an inclusive digital ecosystem across the continent.

Wave also took part in the side event of the Senegalese delegation, organised on 9 April 2026 around the theme "Senegal, Hub of Innovation" , highlighting the country's innovation dynamics and opportunities for collaboration between public and private actors.

“At Wave, our ambition is clear: to build a financial infrastructure that reflects African realities and concretely addresses everyday needs. GITEX Africa is a unique opportunity to demonstrate the impact of our solutions, but also to actively contribute to discussions on the future of digital financial services on the continent,” says El Hadji Malick Gueye, Managing Director of Wave Digital Finance Senegal

Through its participation in GITEX Africa, Wave confirmed its commitment to the development of the Senegalese entrepreneurial ecosystem, by directly supporting local startups and facilitating their access to an international stage.

The supported startups—Kacyber, Assuraf, Kom Kom, and Expert IS—illustrated the diversity and richness of innovation in Senegal. Kacyber developed cybersecurity solutions tailored to African businesses to protect their systems and data in a rapidly expanding digital environment. Assuraf offered innovative digital solutions to make insurance more accessible and better adapted to local realities. Kom Kom designed platforms that facilitate access to everyday services, with a strong focus on user experience and inclusion. Finally, Expert IS supported organizations in their digital transformation through high-performance IT and systems integration solutions.

“The collaboration with Wave allows us to offer our users simple top-up solutions for our prepaid cards, used particularly in transportation, sports clubs and loyalty programs. For a company like ours, this partnership is strategic and directly supports our growth,” emphasizes Amsatou Mbengue, CTO/CEO of Kacyber Technologies.

Thanks to their participation in GITEX, these entrepreneurs benefited from increased visibility and privileged access to international investors, strategic partners, and new markets. This exposure proved to be a key driver for accelerating their growth and strengthening their position regionally and internationally.

“We are very pleased to be at GITEX alongside Wave, a major player in the payments industry, whom we thank for their support. This partnership is all the more important as we already collaborate on payment solutions and on improving insurance processes. We are delighted to be able to count on Wave to support our development and regional expansion,” says Souleymane Gning, CEO of Assuraf.

By supporting local talent and facilitating their access to international platforms, Wave has actively contributed to the emergence of a new generation of African economic players. The company has thus positioned itself within a broader dynamic: building a strong, inclusive, and sustainable digital economy on the continent.

Wave has thus reaffirmed its ambition: to make technology a concrete lever for economic and social impact for all.
