Fête du Travail : L’intersyndicale de la SEN’EAU mise sur l’unité pour relever les défis sociaux
On the occasion of May Day, the workers of SEN'EAU, united within a joint union group (SUTES, SNTEC, SDTE, SATES, and UTS), displayed a united front while addressing specific demands to their management. During a panel discussion on women's productivity within the company, Moustapha Dramé, spokesperson for the joint union group, emphasized that union unity is an essential "responsible choice" for having leverage in negotiations. In his address, he reiterated a fundamental truth for the labor movement: "Divided, we are weak. United, we can achieve progress."
This united front is taking place within a context of social dialogue with senior management, particularly regarding the finalization of a three-year agreement. Faced with rumors of tension, the union representative issued a formal denial, stating that "the social climate is calm and peaceful." He clarified that the company's financial commitments, such as salaries and bonuses, are being met regularly, while condemning "external attempts" to destabilize the institution through rhetoric that, in his view, "reflects neither the reality of the company nor the voice of the workers."
However, this apparent stability does not mask internal areas of unease that the unions intend to address. Moustapha Dramé specifically highlighted the worrying situation in the Customer Service Department, emphasizing that "many colleagues want to leave this department," a warning sign that requires urgent analysis.
Similarly, working conditions in some operating centers have been criticized, with the spokesperson lamenting that some agents are still working in conditions "that cannot be considered normal".
The other major point of contention concerns the treatment of mobile teams, particularly drivers and technicians working on drilling sites. The inter-union group is demanding a definitive resolution to the delayed payments for mission orders, a situation deemed unacceptable by these field workers. Despite these demands, the workers' ambition remains to make SEN'EAU a national benchmark by 2029. For the UTS general secretary, the success of this project rests on a simple but essential balance: "A strong company is built on respected workers. And respected workers make a strong company."
