Une maire réélue meurt le jour de son intronisation

The town of Champignolles mourns Christine Bernard, who had celebrated her 67th birthday the day before and was due to officially take up her duties.

On Friday, March 20, the municipal council of Champignolles, a village of 79 inhabitants in Côte-d'Or, was to officially install Christine Bernard as mayor. She had been re-elected in the first round the previous Sunday. However, the councilors learned that very morning of her death; she had celebrated her 67th birthday the day before.

Christine Bernard became mayor in 2021, following the death of her predecessor, according to "Le Parisien". She had indeed been diagnosed with cancer in December, but appeared to be in remission and had been ready to return to the mayor's office.

An interim mayor has been elected, while the prefecture indicates the procedure to follow to appoint a new mayor.

Il y a aussi 3 personnes assesseurs qui sont mortes dans leur bureau de poste... Il y a le frère d'un maire réélu qui a poignardé un opposant, un maire réélu qui fait des pas de danses...bref
