Crise universitaire : Le Dr Maïssa Ndao quitte le PASTEF
Dr. Maïssa Ndao, a leading figure in the youth wing of the PASTEF-Les Patriotes party in the Kaolack department, announced on Monday, February 9, his resignation from all his political responsibilities within the party led by Ousmane Sonko.
A committed activist since the beginning of 2018, Dr. Maïssa Ndao has risen through the ranks of the party: founding member of PASTEF Ndoffane, then municipal coordinator of the Patriotic Youth of Senegal (JPS), before holding the position of Deputy Secretary General of the Kaolack departmental JPS until now. He is thus bringing to a close eight years of commitment that he describes as "sincere and selfless."
To explain this unexpected departure, Dr. Ndao mentions an accumulation of recent events, citing in particular the tragic context that led to the death of student Abdoulaye Bâ at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD).
Without disavowing the ideals that fueled his activism, Dr. Maïssa Ndao affirms that he made this decision "with full responsibility," citing reasons of moral conscience and a desire to remain true to his personal convictions. This departure marks a turning point for the JPS in the region, where the now former leader wielded considerable influence.
