A dead man appearing at his own funeral is enough to make you run for it! In Argentina, a 22-year-old man, who had been declared dead earlier, arrived at his own funeral shouting, "Hey, I'm alive!"

His appearance caused widespread panic. Screams and cries rang out from everywhere.

But what happened to make a man, supposed to be dead, arrive like a gust of wind at his own funeral? It's easy to guess. He wasn't the right dead man.

She tells the police that it is her son

This chilling and comical story began on Thursday, September 25. A young man was hit by a truck near the Black Bridge, on the alternate road between Villa Carnela and Alderetes, in the province of Tucuman. He died instantly.

A resident of Villa Carmela spontaneously went to the morgue to identify the body. She told the police that it was her son. After the forensic examinations, the Alderetes police commissioner decided to release the body to his family, based on the testimony of the woman who arrived at the police station.

A few hours later, while the body was lying in state, the young man, who was believed to be dead, burst into the family home shouting, "Hey, I'm alive!"

Beyond the shock and panic his appearance caused, there was incomprehension. Alerted, the police came to remove the body and place it in a morgue. Carlos Sale, the prosecutor in charge of the case, questioned the young man. He stated that he was unaware of the death in the area and was unaware that his family had assumed he was the victim.

The deceased young man's true family was not found until Monday, September 29, 2025.

For Commissioner Carlos Daniel Ruiz, everything that happened was an "unintentional error."
