Kédougou : le corps d’un berger repêché dans le fleuve Gambie à Syllacounda Diakha
A tragedy occurred in the Samécouta area, in the Kédougou department. The lifeless body of a shepherd, identified by the initials MAD, was recovered today from the Gambia River, near the village of Syllacounda Diakha.
The recovery operation was carried out by members of the 65th fire and rescue company of Kédougou, alerted after the discovery of the body floating on the waters of the river, according to local sources established in Samécouta.
After the recovery, the body was taken into the care of the firefighters and then transported to the morgue of the Amath Dansokho regional hospital in Kédougou, where it was deposited for medico-legal purposes.
The exact circumstances of this drowning remain unknown at this time. An investigation has been opened by the relevant authorities to shed light on the causes of the tragedy.
This new incident serves as a reminder of the risks associated with pastoral activities near waterways, particularly at this time of year when livestock crossings and watering are frequent.
