"J’attends avec calme" : Achraf Hakimi, le latéral marocain du PSG, renvoyé en procès pour viol

His lawyer announced that the footballer, who was charged in March 2023 after a woman accused him of rape, was referred to the criminal court on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. He maintains that he only kissed her.

PSG's Moroccan full-back Achraf Hakimi, indicted in March 2023 after a woman accused him of rape, has been ordered to stand trial before the criminal court, his lawyer announced on Tuesday, February 24, as confirmed by the Nanterre prosecutor's office. Hakimi's lawyer indicated that she will appeal the committal order. If this appeal is rejected, the footballer will be tried by the Hauts-de-Seine departmental criminal court, at a date that is not yet known.

"A trial is ordered in the presence of an accusation that rests solely on the word of a woman who obstructed all investigations, who refused all medical examinations and DNA tests, who refused to allow the use of her mobile phone, who refused to give the name of a key witness," reacted her lawyer, Fanny Colin, in a statement sent to RTL.

Mr. Colin believes that the victim's "two psychological evaluations" "revealed a lack of lucidity regarding the events she claims to be denouncing," and emphasizes in particular "that she attempted to conceal from the judicial authorities several messages exchanged with one of her friends, outlining plans to 'rob' (sic) Mr. Hakimi." "We are determined and ready to fight as we await this trial," his defense concludes.

"Today, an accusation of rape is enough to justify a trial even though I contest it and everything demonstrates that it is false," the player reacted on X. "I calmly await this trial which will allow the truth to come out publicly," added the 27-year-old international.

Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial, even though I deny it and everything proves it's false. This is as unjust to the innocent as it is to the genuine victims. I calmly await this trial, which will allow the truth to come out…

In late February 2023, the young woman, then 24 years old like the player, initially went to a police station in Val-de-Marne, where she reported being raped, but did not file a formal complaint. According to a police source, the plaintiff claimed that the player had kissed her and touched her inappropriately before raping her.

In a statement, the young woman's lawyer, Rachel-Flore Pardo, said she "welcomed with relief" the committal order for Achraf Hakimi, which she considers "perfectly consistent with the evidence in the case and the public prosecutor's recommendations." According to Pardo, the handling of this case is a reminder that "there are still circles where the Me Too movement has not yet gained traction, with the world of men's football being a prime example."

PSG declined to comment on the matter.

Trained at Real Madrid and a key player for the Moroccan team that reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Moroccan international arrived at PSG in 2021, where he is now vice-captain, after a stint at Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan.

The son of a cleaning lady and a street vendor, both Moroccan and settled in Spain since the 1980s, the player was born in Getafe, in the southern suburbs of Madrid, in the Las Margaritas neighborhood. He started playing football at Ofigevi, then joined the Real Madrid youth academy, where he progressed through all the ranks.

Renowned for his speed, he is considered one of the best right-backs in the world. A star for Morocco, he led his country to the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which was won by Senegal.

Present at training on Tuesday, where he was seen wearing a neck gaiter covering half his face, this senior player, one of the squad's longest-serving members, is expected to start at right-back on Wednesday at the Parc des Princes in the Champions League playoff second leg against Monaco. "It's in the hands of the justice system," club coach Luis Enrique simply stated at a pre-match press conference. When contacted by AFP, the Parisian club declined to comment.
