UCAD : un cinquième étudiant tombe
Two arrests in forty-eight hours. The investigation into the violence that occurred on February 9 at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD) has reached a new stage with the arrests carried out by the Urban Security (SU) of Dakar, L'Observateur emphasizes in its edition of Tuesday, February 17.
Amadou Cheikhou Oumar Diallo, a Master's student at FASEG, was the first to be arrested earlier this week by Commissioner Goudiaby's men, according to the daily newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias (GFM). He was followed by Mor Diouf, enrolled at the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences, who was apprehended after being followed.
Mor Diouf's arrest took place at the Dakar High Court, where he had gone to support three colleagues (Demba Ka, Waly Faye, and Bathie Fall) who had already been brought before the prosecutor. The intervention by plainclothes police officers proceeded without incident. Taken to the Urban Security headquarters, he was placed in police custody after being questioned, according to the same source.
The two students are being prosecuted for violence and assault against law enforcement officers, destruction of public and private property, rebellion and contempt, participation in an undeclared demonstration, disturbances of public order, and for acts likely to compromise public safety.
This new phase of the investigation reflects the determination of the judicial authorities to identify and prosecute all those suspected of the violence that shook the campus, according to the Gfm headline.
