The net is closing in on Mabintou Diaby, the wife of journalist Madiambal Diagne. L'Observateur reveals that the panel of investigating judges at the financial prosecutor's office has banned all telephone communication with the detainee. Her lawyers denounce this measure, which prevents her from even speaking to her husband, calling the decision a "blatant violation of human rights." The defense is also awaiting the conclusions of a supplementary medical examination, conducted by a gynecologist on December 15, but not yet added to the case file. The patient's condition is considered alarming: transferred to the special ward, she is reportedly suffering from serious cardiac and respiratory abnormalities requiring constant medical monitoring to avoid fatal complications, the same source emphasizes.
Placed in pretrial detention on November 29, Mabintou Diaby is being prosecuted for criminal conspiracy and complicity in money laundering as part of an organized criminal group. As a reminder, a report by the Financial Intelligence Unit (CENTIF) suspects kickbacks of approximately 21 billion CFA francs linked to a 250 billion CFA franc public contract awarded by the Ministry of Justice to the company Ellipse Projects. According to investigators, some of these funds allegedly passed through companies belonging to associates of the journalist.
